Eco-activists have committed another act of vandalism, once again attacking a masterpiece of world art, reports the Associated Press. This time, Vincent van Gogh’s painting “The Sower” was unlucky – it is now on display in Rome.
Pea soup was poured over the painting, which, fortunately, was protected by vandal-resistant glass. The canvas, according to art critics, was not damaged.
Representatives of the Last Generation organization, who were involved in the attack, explained their actions as a protest against climate change, gas production, and carbon emissions.
The canvas “The Sower” was painted by Van Gogh in 1888, it belongs to the Dutch Kröller-Müller Museum.
Previously, eco-activists have already poured soup and other products on paintings in Germany, Great Britain, and Italy. The objects of attack were the world-famous works of Van Gogh, Botticelli, Monet and Picasso.
