On the Ebeko volcano, located 7 km from the city of Severo-Kurilsk, there was an ash emission to a height of 2.5 km, the plume stretched eastward for a distance of more than 5 km, said press office Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Sakhalin Region.
It is specified that the release began at 10:56 local time (2:56 Moscow time). According to the dispatching service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, there is no ash fall in Severo-Kurilsk, nothing threatens the lives of local residents.
Yesterday, July 18, Ebeko threw out ash for 4.5 km. In April, the ash emission of Ebeko reached 3 km. The height of the Ebeko volcano is 1156 m. Regular emissions have been going on since 2016. A record release was recorded on August 31, 2018: then a column of smoke rose to a height of 6 km.
