Early voting in the Russian presidential elections has begun in the Zaporozhye region

Early voting for the Russian presidential elections has started in the Zaporozhye region. Residents of settlements near the line of combat contact and military personnel will be the first to vote, reported TASS head of the regional election commission Galina Katyushchenko.

Election officials will go to the homes of area residents living near the front lines with a ballot box and ballots. At the same time, both holders of a passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation and Ukraine can vote. Polling stations in the region will be open in the Zaporozhye region from March 17.

Early voting is also provided for residents of the Kherson region, Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics due to martial law. At the beginning of February, the press service of the DPR election commission told Kommersant that the “working date” for the start of early voting is March 10, but “changes are possible in accordance with the operational situation.” The election commissions of the LPR and the Kherson region did not announce the dates of early elections.

Today, February 25, early voting is also starts in remote, hard-to-reach areas and on ships that will be sailing on voting day. Members of election commissions will visit weather stations, polar stations, reindeer herding camps and distant settlements.

Voting in the Russian presidential elections will last three days – March 15, 16 and 17. The Central Election Commission registered Vladislav Davankov (New People), Leonid Slutsky (LDPR), Nikolai Kharitonov (Communist Party of the Russian Federation) and Vladimir Putin (self-nominated) as candidates for the presidential elections.
