Each unit of the Russian Airborne Forces (VDV) has unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which are used for reconnaissance and coordination of assault groups. This was reported by one of the designers of the Ryazan Guards Higher Airborne Command School (RVVDKU) in an interview with TASS.
After the start of the Modern Military Operation (SVO), changes were made to combat training, and each RVVDKU cadet is trained to control UAVs with thermal imagers. Drones are used for reconnaissance of targets, as well as to provide guidance to the commander during an assault. They also perform the function of adjusting artillery and aviation fire. Almost no special forces or airborne forces group can do without the use of unmanned aerial vehicles.
RVVDKU is one of the leading universities of the Russian Ministry of Defense and has an advanced educational and material base. Classrooms are equipped with interactive simulators for all training subjects, including fire training, driving combat vehicles and commanding units in combat. More than 50 thousand commanders were graduated from this school, including 53 Heroes of the Soviet Union and 119 Heroes of the Russian Federation.
