Dyson has introduced a modernized version of the Supersonic hair dryer, which has been produced since 2016. The Supersonic r version has received “smart” technologies and is positioned as an accessory for professional stylists, reports The Verge.
The new product has an R-shaped case, which is adapted to the scenarios of use by stylists – the shape has been changed to improve ergonomics, the location of the buttons has been changed, which reduces the load on the user’s wrists. In addition, the hair dryer has become 30% more compact and 20% lighter than its predecessor. A special feature of the Supersonic r are replaceable attachments with RFID tags, thanks to which the hairdryer automatically changes heat and power settings depending on the style, and in addition, users have the opportunity to create their own settings for the accessory.
The accessory has a compact Supersonic electric motor and a new heating system that ensures uniform heating of the hair. Additionally, the hair dryer is equipped with a built-in air filter that protects the device from hair, hairspray and other debris that is found in hairdressing and beauty salons. Sales of the Dyson Supersonic r will begin in March – the $570 hairdryer will be available only to professional stylists. The company has not announced the possibility of releasing the device to the mass market.
