Dynamo hockey players from Anadyr became NHL silver medalists

On Tuesday, May 16, in the final of the League of Hope Small Cup, Dynamo hockey players from Anadyr, the easternmost city of Russia, met with the Stroitel 1 team from Kaliningrad, the westernmost one. The result of the game is 5:2 in favor of the Kaliningrad sportsmen. “Dynamo” took the second place, which is the best result in nine years of participation in these competitions, according to IA “Chukotka”.

The final match of the twelfth season of the Night Hockey League (NHL) was held at the Bolshoi Ice Palace in Sochi. Kaliningrad athletes opened the scoring during the meeting, in the seventh minute of the match they were able to strengthen the advantage. The Chukotka hockey players scored their first goal in the second half of the meeting, a series of passes were made by Dmitry Bugrov and Fedor Nikolaenko, which allowed Ivan Boronin to carry out a successful attack. But immediately after that, the top scorer of “Builder 1” further increased the advantage.

Dynamo (Anadyr) managed to repeat the attack once again – Rifat Galeev and Vyacheslav Ivanov had successful passes, and Nikita Zorin sent the puck into the opponents’ goal. At the end of the meeting, the Chukchi hockey players missed two more breakthroughs to their gates. The result of the meeting is 5:2 in favor of the Kaliningrad team. Anadyr “Dynamo” became the silver medalist of the championship.

“All our guys are great, they played despite injuries and bruises. Rivals from other regions were strong. Somewhere skill helped us, and somewhere simple luck. Reaching the NHL final for the Chukotka national team is a historic moment, ”Artyom Filippov, head coach of Dynamo (Anadyr), shared his impressions before the final game.

This year, the Chukotka team had a difficult group stage. According to the results of the games, Dynamo hockey players earned two draws and one victory. After the group stage, the team managed to win two more playoff matches.

During the competition, the rivals of the Chukotka hockey players were the following teams: “MB Ryazan” from the Ryazan region, “Titan” from Stavropol, “TRK” from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Also, the Chukotka athletes met with the Tula “Icebreaker” and the Lipetsk “Green Hill”. In total, hockey players from 24 regions of the country competed for the small cup of the League of Hope this year.
