Yesterday, December 21, two Dutch organizations – the Consumer Association and the Consumer Competition Claims Fund – filed a lawsuit suing Samsung Corporation. According to them, the company inflated the prices of televisions between 2013 and 2018, requiring retailers not to sell them below a certain price. According to the plaintiffs, Samsung regularly checked whether stores were violating its requirements.

The plaintiffs believe that the total losses of consumers in this regard reach €500 million. In 2021, the Dutch Consumer and Markets Authority has already recognized this practice as illegal and fined Samsung €39 million. Now the organizations are demanding that Samsung pay compensation to people who bought during this period, televisions, including those of other brands, since overpricing by one large company affected prices on the market as a whole.
