“Free Belarus” should become a strategic priority for the European authorities, said Polish President Andrzej Duda. In his speech at the Council of Europe summit, Duda stressed that it is necessary to organize support for civil society institutions and democratic forces in Belarus.
He highlighted the need to fight for the release of political prisoners, including journalist Andrzej Poczobut and Nobel Peace Prize winner Ales Bialiatski.
The President of Poland stressed that it is necessary to increase pressure on the Lukashenka regime and make the accession of “free Belarus” to the European family one of the strategic priorities of the Council of Europe. He added that work also needs to be done to accelerate progress towards the countries of the Western Balkans, Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova in the EU.
