In the course of a special military operation, a kamikaze drone of the Privet-82 aircraft type was used for the first time, it hit a stronghold of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU), TASS reports with reference to the design bureau (KB) Oko.
The distance from the target to the launch site was about 12 km. “This is our first device that was used for a combat purpose, and the very first use was successful,” told in KB.
According to Oko, the enemy’s electronic reconnaissance does not detect the side, and near the line of clashes, the operator, using the remote control, “picks up” the control and goes to the target. The launch team had never piloted a drone before the combat use of Privet-82, and the specialist who launched it underwent five days of training, the design bureau said.
The drone, designed for use in counter-battery combat and during the assault on fortified areas, is capable of covering distances of up to 30 km, the speed can reach 140 km/h. Its payload is up to 5.5 kg.
In July 2022, TASS reported that the Russian military during a special operation in Ukraine for the first time applied electromagnetic complexes “Stupor”, which are used to combat drones. The complex emits electromagnetic pulses to suppress the control channel, as well as the navigation and transmission channels of the drone, its photo and video cameras in the optoelectronic range. The complex operates at a distance of up to 2 km in a 20-degree sector.
