DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions are included in the Constitution of Russia

On the portal of regulatory legal acts appeared text new version of the Constitution of Russia, in which the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions are indicated as subjects of the federation. Now Russia officially includes 89 subjects. On the eve of October 5, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed publish a new text of the constitution.

Following the results of referendums in the territories of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, the majority of those participating in the plebiscite voted for joining Russia. Vladimir Putin signed an agreement on the annexation of the regions to Russia on September 30. constitutional Court acknowledged treaties are constitutional. State Duma and Council of the Federation unanimously approved laws on the entry of regions into Russia. October 5 President signed relevant laws, and appointed acting head.

The boundaries of the territories of the annexed regions are determined by their borders on the day of accession to the Russian Federation. Residents of the new territories will become citizens of Russia upon filing an application and taking the oath of a citizen of the Russian Federation. The state language will be Russian. Schools will continue to study Ukrainian.

Vladimir Putin declaredthat the situation in the DPR, LPR, as well as in the territories of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions will be stabilized. The head of state noted that the results of the referendums “not only pleased him, but also surprised him.” President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky acknowledged Russian acts on the accession of new regions are null and void and refused to negotiate with Russia.
