Russian doctors wrote an open letter to President Vladimir Putin asking him to hospitalize former Moscow municipal deputy Alexei Gorinov. Now the 62-year-old politician is serving a sentence in the case of fakes about the Russian army (Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code). The link to the letter was published in Telegram– Alexey Gorinov’s support channel.

In the letter, the doctors note that Alexey Gorinov has been suffering from pulmonary tuberculosis for a long time. In 2016, he underwent surgery and had a lobe of his lung removed. However, as the authors of the appeal note, even after the operation, the politician continued to have infiltrative lesions of the lung tissue.

“Taking into account this history, as well as the signs of acute respiratory failure described by the lawyer, Alexey Gorinov needs hospitalization and a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic measures. This human condition is life-threatening and can quickly worsen,” the doctors emphasized. In total, at the time of publication, 94 specialists left their signatures.

On December 8, Alexey Gorinov, who is in correctional colony No. 2 in the Vladimir region, was visited by a lawyer. Following the meeting, he reported that his client’s health had deteriorated significantly. “Alexey doesn’t even have the strength to sit on a chair and talk. Several times he practically fell,” wrote the politician’s support group. According to Alexei Gorinov himself, he has “active bronchitis, fever, constant chills and difficulty breathing.” The lawyer noted that Alexei Gorinov sought medical help from the colony leadership, but was refused.

On July 8, 2022, the Meshchansky Court of Moscow sentenced Alexey Gorinov to seven years in a general regime colony in the case of disseminating false information about the Russian armed forces (Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code). The appeal reduced his sentence by one month. In October 2023, in relation to a former Moscow municipal deputy aroused a criminal case to justify terrorism (Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
