The head of DOSAAF in the Sverdlovsk region, Vladimir Mezentsev, offered to start teaching military affairs to schoolchildren from the first grade. With this initiative, he turned to the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Urals Federal District (UrFO) Vladimir Yakushev.

According to Mezentsev, children in grades 1-4 can read patriotic stories about their homeland, teach them how to assemble toy equipment and watch films about border guard dogs. Older students in grades 5-9 are taught how to disassemble machine guns and show patriotic films. High school students will be able to participate in automotive and airborne training, as well as learn full mastery of weapons.

Earlier, State Duma deputy Vladimir Pavlov proposed resume classes in basic military training in schools and universities. He promised to develop a corresponding bill in the near future.
