Donbas forests will be leased at a discount

The Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia has prepared a draft government decree (published on the regulation.gov.ru portal), which establishes rates for the lease of forest plots, as well as a reduction coefficient for them in the territories of the Donetsk (DPR) and Lugansk People’s Republics (LPR), in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. A representative of the ministry explained to Vedomosti that the draft document was developed after a corresponding appeal to the Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology Alexander Kozlov, Deputy Prime Minister of the DPR Vladimir Yezhikov. Vedomosti sent a request to the regional government.

“This was done to organize effective work in the field of forest relations and integration processes into the legal field of the country,” added the representative of the Ministry of Natural Resources. According to him, the reduction coefficient, which actually reduces the standard rental rates by 10 times, should be established to improve the situation in the forest industry in new regions of Russia. It will be valid until January 1, 2026. Such a transitional period was established in the laws on the admission of new regions to the Russian Federation for their integration into the economic, financial, credit and legal systems of the country, the explanatory note notes.
