What are swing states
A swing state is a state where either a Democrat or a Republican is equally likely to win. Often it is in such states that the outcome of the presidential race in the United States is decided. Their number may vary from election to election. In 2020, there were 13 swing states (Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Wisconsin). Of these, Biden won eight. In 2016, 12 states did so. Trump won eight of them.
