Dog teams rushed along the ski slopes of Petrozavodsk

This weekend, Kurgan, Petrozavodsk, is very busy, because the KareliaSkiFest 7.0 (0+) festival is taking place there. This includes cross-country skiing, a winter holiday for the whole family, and sledding competitions. We visited the latter, so now we will tell you more about them and share photos.

The championship and superiority of Karelia are organized within the framework of the festival. The competitions are qualifying, their winners will join the national team of Karelia and go to the All-Russian competitions. The organizer Vassko Vlasov told our correspondent that skiers from Petrozavodsk, Loukhsky district, Leningrad and Murmansk regions wanted to take part in the race. For the first time local races were visited by the “gold” of the country – an athlete from Murmansk Yulia Potapova, who in early March became the champion of Russiaplaying for Karelia.

The participants were asked to test their own strengths and the strengths of their pets in the disciplines of sprint skiing, where a skier is pulled by one dog, as well as a sled sprint with a team of two, four and six tailed runners. Men and women overcame a distance of five kilometers, and one junior raced along a three-kilometer track.

“Official competitions are always difficult to hold, because this requires a lot of documentation, which goes through several rounds of approval. But when the moment of competition comes, and you see the faces of the athletes, you understand that it was not in vain that all this was done, it was not in vain that fatigue accumulated, ”the organizer shared his impressions.

Not only the organizers get tired, but also the participants, because many of them have already managed to go to the championships of St. Petersburg, the Leningrad Region, and the Murmansk Region over the past month. Two of our athletes also visited the Russian Championship. Now here is the championship of Karelia, and a week later another competition – night and day races within the framework of the same KareliaSkiFest 7.0 festival.
