– When they tell me that someone has received a sun or heat stroke, I always ask: what was the person wearing? And sometimes you don’t have to ask, I see for myself. And here’s what I want to say: lovers of miniskirts, microshorts and tops with thin straps are at risk compared to those who wear a loose and blown hoodie made of light natural fabric. For the heat, there is nothing better than cotton or fine linen. A long dress with closed shoulders will protect you from sunburn, and air will circulate freely under it, – Tatyana Charushina, a therapist, explains in an interview with an MK correspondent. – Try to dress like this, you will be pleasantly surprised. Another important issue is the choice of hat. Covering your head is a must, but cheap hats are often synthetic. As a result, your head will sweat and you will be even hotter. Invest in a natural straw hat, or at least a woven cotton hat. If you can’t afford it, it’s better to wrap your head with a handkerchief.

Also, the doctor strongly recommends not to look back at the rules of decency (within reasonable limits!) And not to think about who and what will think of you – at times when you need to escape from the heat, it does not matter.

– If you feel that you will feel better if you pour a bottle of cold mineral water on your crown, then you need to pour it out. Even in the middle of Tverskoy Boulevard in Moscow, it’s not scary. The main thing is not to go down to the subway under the air conditioner after that, you will be blown away. But what random passers-by will think about you, it doesn’t matter at all, ”continues Charushina. – I once had a teenage girl at the reception who refused to wear a hat because her classmates considered her “grandmother.” Nonsense! The same principle applies here as in the reluctance to wear a hat in the cold.

There are other recommendations of doctors that should not be ignored. Walk on the shady side of the street, always carry a bottle of water with you (you need to drink periodically, in small portions), wear hats – such measures will help to avoid not only sunstroke, but also heatstroke, which can be obtained even outside the direct rays of the sun.

Hot air is dangerous for people with chronic diseases: cardiovascular, endocrine, broncho-pulmonary, oncological. The main recommendation of doctors: in no case should you skip taking the drugs prescribed by your doctor, even if you feel well. At high air temperatures, which is accompanied by increased atmospheric pressure and dryness, the risk of blood clots increases due to a slight thickening of the blood. Such patients with abnormal heat should be as much as possible in a room with air conditioning or at least a fan, avoid the sun, unnecessary physical exertion. It is recommended to follow a low-calorie diet, drink more fluids.

In hot weather, a person sweats intensely, and along with sweat, not only water is lost, but also electrolytes. This increases the risk of not only thrombosis, but also cardiac arrhythmias. It is better to replenish the lost fluid with the help of mineral water – it contains a minimum set of electrolytes. From coffee and alcohol in the heat should be abandoned.

Excessive exposure to the sun can lead not only to sunstroke or skin burns, but also to the appearance of allergic dermatitis. For example, in such weather, people with an allergy to the sun often turn to doctors. Its first symptoms appear after 1-2 hours of continuous exposure to the sun and outwardly resemble a sunburn – the person turns red, rashes, blisters and swelling appear on the skin. A car over the age of 10, even if it is of a completely modern design (not a Zhiguli, not a Volga!) – can fail right on the road in the heat, experts of auto technical centers remind.

“If the control lamp for oil or coolant overheating lights up on the panel, immediately stop at the nearest permitted place and cool the car,” advises Nikolai Bogdanov, master of a service center specializing in European brands. – Although the best option would be to turn onto a side road or understudy in order to cool the engine down to operating temperature with a slow, measured ride. But this can only be done if you have an oil or antifreeze temperature gauge on the panel, if only a control light, it will be risky.

According to the master, first of all, cars older than 10 years old, in which the cooling system is contaminated with deposits, are most susceptible to boiling. It may be necessary to rinse it, but this operation takes several hours – therefore, by the current heat, car owners with this problem are most likely “late”. Driving with an overheated engine for more than 3-5 minutes almost certainly entails a major overhaul of the engine, Bogdanov emphasized.

Of the measures that can be taken urgently before a heat wave, one of the most effective is refueling and minor repairs to the air conditioner. As a rule, the climate systems of cars “age” slowly, losing efficiency not immediately – and on moderately warm days you don’t notice it. But on hot days it turns out that the air conditioner is obviously “not enough”.

“Freon refueling is required for almost all cars,” admits the owner of a car service in Moscow, Suren Babloyan. – But if the shortage is serious, you should immediately check the system for leaks. Maybe a small repair is needed – replacing gaskets, tightening connections – or maybe everything is serious, and the climate needs to be completely repaired. A small repair before the heat can be done in time.

On hot sunny days, all objects that can melt or damage the panel material (including plastic cards and wallets, any plastic and metal objects) should be removed from under the windows of cars.
