New subspecies of “Omicron” Myasnikov called contagious, but not dangerous

Cardiologist and TV presenter Alexander Myasnikov expressed his own opinion about the new strain of the Arcturus coronavirus. He was given the marking XBV.1.16, and has already been included in the list of the World Health Organization (WHO) as a potential leader in the causative agent of the coronavirus.

In the US, the Kraken strain causes 78% of infections, while the new subspecies still accounts for 7%.

“Slightly more contagious, but not more dangerous. Like the Kraken, it’s just an acute respiratory disease (we’re not talking about serious risk groups – there is any virus, any infection can be dangerous),” he wrote in TG channel doctor.

Myasnikov recalled that the evolution of coronaviruses is in the direction of increasing contagiousness and reducing the severity of the disease. The virus is changing and will continue to mutate every three to four months. Therefore, it makes no sense to memorize the next name.

Formerly Roskomnador informed about the emergence of the Arcturus strain in Russia. The agency noted that no precautionary quarantine measures are required.
