The head of the international committee of the Federation Council, Grigory Karasin, did not support those who plucked the Ukrainian flag from the flagpole near the headquarters of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.
In his telegram channel, he argued with those who “angrily condemn” the presence of the Ukrainian flag in front of the Tauride Palace, where the flag was hung along with other flags of the CIS countries. “Ukraine has not formally withdrawn from the Commonwealth,” Karasin recalled. “Therefore, her flag is flown along with the others…for good reason.”
The senator stressed that it is more important to learn something else – the NVO “is not against Ukraine, but for Ukraine.” For the return of the country and its people to “the bosom of common sense and good neighborly relations with Russia and other CIS countries,” he explained.
And whipping up passions and tearing down flags, according to him, is similar to what neo-Nazis do with our shrines in Ukraine itself and in the West. The senator is sure that one should not copy the idiocy of enemies.
