Russian businessman Dmitry Rybolovlev is exploring “strategic opportunities” for his stake in the Monaco football club, a representative of the entrepreneur said TASS. The issue is being considered because the shareholder has received requests “from potentially interested parties.”
The investment bank Raine Group was hired as a financial consultant. As the businessman’s representative noted, “there are no guarantees that the strategic analysis will lead to any transaction involving the club.”
Mr. Rybolovlev is 57 years old; he bought a controlling stake in Monaco in 2011, when the club played in the second strongest division of the French championship. In 2017, Monaco became the champion of France for the first time in 17 years, and took second place in the championship in 2014 and 2018. Alexander Golovin has been a member of the club since 2018. This season, Monaco ranks fourth in the French Championship standings.
