Dmitry Koldun was outraged by the air of Venice: “Terrible stench”

The artist spoke about his trip to Italy

Singer Dmitry Koldun, like numerous mere mortals, finally went on vacation. After a tour in Turkey, he decided to take advantage of the situation and go to Italy, since it is not possible to directly reach it from Russia or Belarus. At the same time, Dmitry has long dreamed of visiting Venice, and just walking along the Italian streets. “It is very difficult to get here now. I decided to take the opportunity and flew from Istanbul. I will return in the same way, it will not work out differently, ”said the artist.

Dmitry shared his impressions of Venice with MK. What he saw literally shocked the artist.

“I was struck by Venice going under water, when water flows back from the sewer, and city services cannot do anything,” the artist said. – Those who trade there profit from tourists by selling them disposable rubber boots so that they can bypass puddles. Because it is impossible to get from the embankment near St. Mark’s Square to get into the central part of the city without passing through a puddle about 20 meters long. But if you walk along it, you will definitely get your feet wet, and the water there, excuse me, is smelly. Wastewater rises back at high tide. The smell is similar to what goes on if you remove the siphon in the sink: musty rot. But people even go barefoot, and the locals even wear sneakers. Of course, there was a negative impression from all this. If we compare St. Petersburg, our so-called Venice of the North, and the real Venice, then in St. Petersburg it is much cleaner and more cultured in this regard. Of course, I am delighted with Venice – it was my dream to get here, but it left mixed feelings. The impression was spoiled by unsanitary conditions.

– Will you go again?

– It seems to me that I have already managed to see everything here, to ride along the canals. Maybe I will return, but not with the same mood with which I originally came here.

– What about prices? They say they grow everywhere…

– In Venice they are even higher than in Milan. For example, a ride on a water bus costs 9 euros, now it is almost a thousand rubles. And it’s just one ride on local public transport. And there are no cars. Here also consider. In order to eat quite ascetically for a tourist, this is at least 30 euros per person at a time. If you want to drink wine without going to the cafe, it’s 50 euros. With this money, you can go to the local McDonald’s well. If you want to go to a restaurant, we multiply the amount several times. In general, this is not a city to live in.

– Didn’t you leave without souvenirs?

– Well, of course. I bought traditionally Venetian masks, Murano glass souvenirs, and in Milan – two costumes, including a stage one. In the fall I will do a new photo shoot – it will come in handy!

– And what about the attitude towards the Russians? Did you feel, shall we say, a special approach?

– For several days of my stay, I got the feeling that everyone here does not care. Previously, there were much more Russian-speaking people, and they flirted with them, asked: “Where are you from?” ( Where are you from?). Now the locals don’t ask such questions anymore. Apparently there is no one to ask. I was in Italy for the last time before covid in 2020 and, of course, the Russian language was constantly in the background. Now Russian speech sounds exclusively in the center, as it seemed to me, and in some expensive stores. In Venice, I heard it only once. In one of the stores, the sellers saw my Belarusian passport and asked, where is this at all? From which I conclude that the local population does not care at all about what is happening in the whole world. Maybe they don’t even watch the news. I didn’t feel any negative…
