Djokovic hopes to play at the US Open

Novak Djokovic has said he is training as if he would be allowed to compete in the US Open despite his refusal to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
Three-time US Open champion Djokovic will not be able to play at the tournament this year due to current rules that keep the unvaccinated from entering the country.
Previously, the 35-year-old athlete was included in the list of participants in the Grand Slam tournament, which will be held from August 29 to September 11 in New York.
“While I wait for news about whether I can go to the US, I am preparing as if I would be allowed to compete,” Djokovic wrote on his social networks.
More than 43,000 people have signed an online petition calling on the United States Tennis Association to persuade the US government to allow Djokovic to enter the country.
Last year, Djokovic won the Australian Open, Roland Garros and Wimbledon, but this year he was unable to defend the title in Melbourne due to deportation from the country due to lack of a vaccination certificate.
