Scientists from the University of Sydney have concluded that short periods of intense physical activity, such as mopping floors and climbing stairs, significantly reduce the risk of strokes and heart attacks. The material of Australian scientists was published in The Lancet Public Health.
Researchers tracked physical activity in 25 thousand volunteers aged 42 to 78 years. About 97% of their occasional physical activity, the analysis showed, occurred in short periods, that is, lasting less than 10 minutes.
Scientists, after analyzing the data, came to the conclusion: the presence of such bursts of activity affects a sharp reduction in the risk of heart attack and stroke.
