This statement was made at an event to sign an agreement between Roscongress and NIC KI last week. Answering the question of “MK” about why the Kurchatov Institute annexed seven institutions, Marat Kambolov answered the following: “Today we have dozens of requests from institutions that want to join us.” According to him, the selection criterion is the fact of insufficient work of one or another institution for the state: “… Very rarely, where an institution does not work enough for the state, then we pay attention to them.”
President of the Kurchatov Institute Mikhail Kovalchuk added that we are talking about those institutions “that want to do business.”
Recall that in early February, by order of the government of the Russian Federation, the Institute of Macromolecular Compounds,
Institute of Silicate Chemistry, Research Center “Crystallography and Photonics”, Research Institute for System Research, Institute for Design Problems in Microelectronics, Institute of Microwave Semiconductor Electronics named after V. G. Mokerova and the Physico-Technological Institute. K. A. Valieva. Now, instead of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, it is the SIC that exercises the powers of their founder and owner of their property.
However, the scientific and methodological management of the institutes of the Scientific Research Center, which was previously entrusted to the Kurchatov Institute itself, was again returned to the Russian Academy of Sciences.
