The first Olympic biathlon champion Claes Lestander has died at the age of 92. The death is reported by Aftonbladet, referring to the son of the Swedish athlete Dan Lestander.
The Olympic champion reportedly died at his home in Arjeplog of natural causes.
The Swede won his gold medal at the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley, USA. Up until 2010, Lestander was the only Swedish biathlete to win gold in the Olympics.
