Literary and theater critic, one of the founders of Novaya Gazeta, Elena Dyakova, died at the age of 61 in Moscow after a long illness.

A few months before her death, Elena Dyakova finished writing a book about the history of her family. The book has not yet been published.
Elena Dyakova was born on February 8, 1962 in Kyiv. In 1984 she graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of Moscow State University, in 1990 – postgraduate studies at the Institute of World Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In 1990-2000, he was a senior researcher at the Department of Russian Literature of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
In 1993, Elena Dyakova was one of those who founded Novaya Gazeta. At Novaya, she was a columnist and head of the culture department. Member of the Association of Theater Critics, the Union of Journalists of Russia, the International Federation of Journalists, the Union of Writers of Moscow.
