Sports journalist and former head of the press service of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Andrei Malosolov died at the age of 50 on the night of May 1-2, Kirill Breido, director of communications for the CSKA football club, told TASS. The cause of death was not specified.
Andrey Malosolov is the founder of the Russky Fan Vestnik magazine about the subculture of Russian football fans, which existed from 1990 to 2007. From 1995 to 2005, he was an employee of RIA Novosti, where, among other things, he worked as a war correspondent on the First Chechen War and the war in Yugoslavia. In 2005, the journalist headed the press service of the RFU, holding this position until 2010.
In 2007, Mr. Malosolov co-founded the All-Russian Association of Fans, which played an important role in the fan movement. It lasted until 2016. In addition, the journalist was the author of the RFU Hour and Zhemchuzhina-Sochi programs on RadioSport FM, and also taught sports marketing and management at the State University of Management and Synergy University.
