As part of their stay in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, hockey legends took part in the federal project of Rosmolodezh “Dialogue on equal terms”. Sports veterans met with young hockey players of the district – pupils of the sports school of the Olympic reserve “Trud”.
Honored Master of Sports of the USSR, Stanley Cup winner, USSR champion, world champion, European champion, two-time Olympic champion Alexei Kasatonov and Honored Master of Sports of the USSR, Olympic champion, three-time world champion Sergey Shepelev answered the questions of the guys and shared their professional experience.
– If you love hockey, give yourself up to this sport, everything can work out. From a young age I began to practice, the coach of the local sports school saw me at the Golden Puck and invited me to join his team, – said Sergey Shepelev.
Aleksey Kasatonov noted that a variety of sports skills would be useful for hockey.
– I played football, seriously went in for swimming, basketball, volleyball, almost all sports. We need to develop all-round. Hockey is a sport that requires stamina, speed, strength and character,” he said. – When I came to the hockey school, I was lucky that the first selection took place on the ground, only physical abilities were tested. Then I went out on the ice, but I practically didn’t know how to skate. But the coach saw something in me and left in the team. The main thing, guys, is that you should skate well, do the exercises that the coach says, and do some extra work yourself.
Also during the “Dialogue on equal terms”, hockey veterans told the guys about how they got into professional sports, how to prepare for competitions, how to reduce the risk of injury and much more, reports the portal of state bodies of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The meeting ended with an autograph session, the guys gave the guests souvenirs with the symbols of the region.
