The French corporation Renault, leaving the production site in Moscow, where Moskvich is now located, took with it all the technologies and components, and also got rid of the responsible suppliers of parts. This was announced by the production director of the Moskvich automobile plant Oleg Maslyakov.
He said that the company’s decision to close the Renault plant in Moscow and leave the Russian market was almost instantaneous.
“The French management of the plant left neither the technologies, nor the design documentation, nor the components that should provide the production base,” Maslyakov noted.
He added that the assembly and production of new cars at Moskvich, one might say, was built from scratch.
The new “Muscovites” are being designed by the capital’s plant, which was previously produced by Renault. The first to release was the compact crossover Moskvich 3, an analogue of the Chinese JAC JS4. The car rolled off the assembly line on November 23 last year. At the moment, there are other models in the line besides the Moskvich 3 – the Moskvich 3e electric car and the Moskvich 6 sedan.
