Dermatologist warns of risk of not noticing skin cancer symptoms in winter

During the cold season, people wear more layers of clothing, wrap themselves up, and therefore examine their skin less, the expert noted. He reminded that it is always important to remain vigilant.

“People are more likely to notice the first signs of skin cancer in the spring or summer, but the disease can start at any time – it often happens gradually,” the doctor said.

Singh advised regularly examining the whole body in front of the mirror and checking whether any strange lumps, inflammations have appeared, or whether moles have changed. A thorough inspection should be carried out several times during the winter.

People with fair skin are especially at risk if they also spend a lot of time in the sun and have someone in their family who suffered from melanoma. The first sign of the disease is usually a change in the appearance of a mole or the appearance of a new one.

So, you should pay attention to the asymmetry, border, color, diameter of the mole. A change in any of these parameters may be a symptom. In such cases, you should immediately consult a doctor.
