Dermatologist Sinkir: Frequent shampooing is fraught with baldness

Sam Sinkier, CEO of Este Medical Group, which specializes in dermatology and trichology, told to the British edition of GlasgowLive about a common hair washing mistake that can lead to baldness.

It turned out that frequent hair washing can lead to problems such as tangles, split ends and brittle ends, as well as itchy scalp and hair loss.

The fact is, Sinkir explained, the scalp secretes sebum on its own – in some way it is a natural alternative to oil. Sebum helps protect hair from moisture loss, and frequent washing can thin the protective layer.

The dermatologist also noted that hair type should determine how often hair should be washed. For example, owners of thin hair should wash their hair two to three times a week, and people with thick hair should not wash their hair more than twice.
