The school curriculum in literature will begin to change this year. This was stated by Dmitry Vyatkin, First Deputy Head of the United Russia faction in the State Duma. The deputy noted that the education committee had already discussed this issue with relevant departments.
Vyatkin noted that a number of patriotic works by Soviet authors should be returned to schoolchildren. For example, “Young Guard” by Alexander Fadeev and “Hot Snow” by Yuri Bondarev. At the same time, those works that “have not stood the test of time” will be excluded from the school curriculum.
The people’s choice stressed that they would rely on the opinion of parents and teachers. As well as expert opinions. As for public opinion, Vyatkin noted that at a meeting with SFedU students, the subject of the presence of works by Alexander Solzhenitsyn in the school curriculum was discussed. The deputy, in particular, believes that many facts of the “Gulag Archipelago” were “invented.”
