Vladislav Davankov, Vice Speaker of the State Duma from the New People party, in an address to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova, proposed recognizing large families with two children, reports “RIA News” with reference to the MP’s letter.
“I ask you to support granting the status of a large family to all families with two or more minor children in federal law,” the letter says.
Mr. Davankov noted that there are relatively few families with three or more children in Russia. In his opinion, many families with two children prefer not to increase their number, because they are not able to financially provide for all children.
Now in Russia, a family with three or more minor children is considered a large family. At the same time, in some regions, in particular in the Far North, a family with two children can be considered a large family. Large families can count on a number of benefits. For example, in some regions, such families may not pay transport tax, and children can use public transport services for free.
