Deputy Prime Minister Chernyshenko: The development of quantum computing is one of the most promising areas

Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko held a meeting on the development of the high-tech industry “Quantum Computing”. It was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Digital Development, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, State Corporation “Rosatom” and research institutes dealing with this topic.

“The government pays great attention to the development of the high-tech industry of quantum computing. This is one of the most promising areas of the coming years and an integral part of our joint work with the Russian Academy of Sciences, universities and state corporations to achieve technological sovereignty – this task has been set before us by the President. One of the key results of the implementation of the roadmap for the development of the high-tech industry “Quantum Computing” is the creation of a prototype of a 4-qubit ion quantum processor. This is a unique technology that three countries in the world have, including Russia,” Chernyshenko said.

It should be noted that it is planned to allocate at least 100 billion rubles from the federal budget for the implementation of all agreements and the road map until 2025. At the same time, organizations that have concluded agreements co-finance developments in no less volume than the state. On behalf of President Vladimir Putin, the Government must update key indicators and roadmaps for the implementation of agreements concluded with state corporations by November 1, taking into account the need to achieve technological leadership in the medium term.
