Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko thanked the former head of the Federal Tourism Agency Zarina Doguzova for her contribution to the development of the industry, expressing confidence that Ms. Doguzova will continue to work in this industry. The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the transfer of the functions of the Federal Tourism Agency for the development of the tourism sector to the Ministry of Economy will allow the Russian government to concentrate the resource on “the challenges and priorities of the industry.” “The best practices developed by the Federal Tourism Agency, the experience and competencies of the Ministry of Economic Development will allow not only to maintain, but also to increase the pace of achieving the goals set by the president and the chairman of the government,” added Mr. Chernyshenko.
Today, October 20, Mr. Putin signed Decree on the abolition of the Federal Agency for Tourism (Rostourism), which existed since 2004. Since 2019, the department has been headed by Zarina Doguzova. Discontent with the work of the agency, as well as the struggle for additional powers and resources, could contribute to the abolition. Participants in the tourism market are counting on the great opportunities of the Ministry of Economy, but they fear a slowdown in the reform of the industry.
