Deputy Prime Minister Belousov called the inflation forecast of 5.3% weighted – Kommersant

First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Andrey Belousov said that he considers the inflation forecast in 2023 at the level of 5.3% to be quite “weighted”. This assessment was announced on April 15 by the Ministry of Economic Development, having improved its forecast by 0.2 percentage points.

“A fairly balanced assessment,” Andrey Belousov told reporters (quoted by RIA Novosti). He added that there are pro-inflationary risks in the country, but there are no signs of their implementation on the market yet.

On April 15, the head of the Ministry of Economic Development, Maxim Reshetnikov, said that inflation by the end of 2023 would drop to 5.3% due to the lack of tariff indexation. The agency also predicts that by the end of 2024-2026, inflation will drop to 4%.

Meanwhile, the Central Bank predicts inflation at the level of 5–7% in 2023. In 2024, the regulator also expects inflation to reach 4%.
