Deputy Ostanina told how access to LGBT content will be restricted

Nina Ostanina, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Family, Women and Children, spoke about how access to restricted content can be provided if a bill banning “propaganda of non-traditional relationships” is adopted. In an interview with the publication Gazeta.ru The deputy explained that on platforms that distribute paid content of this kind, verification of the user’s age will be implemented.
“You know that, as a rule, there is this age window on all services – “confirm your age,” Ostanina noted. “It won’t be a more complex mechanism.”
It is only about paid services, the deputy assured. As for free platforms, they will be required to “impose a restriction on viewing content with LGBT propaganda or not post such information.”
Perhaps, after the adoption of the law, additional regulatory documents will appear, Nina Ostanina believes. Mechanisms for restricting access and verifying the age of the platform can be offered independently, taking into account their specifics.
Recall that on October 20, the State Duma received two bills at once, strengthening the responsibility for LGBT propaganda both among minors and (this is a novelty) adults. On paid services, the state proposes to require confirmation of the age of users. It is also planned to introduce fines: for propaganda of pedophilia up to 10 million rubles, for LGBT people among minors up to 5 million rubles, among adults up to 4 million rubles.
