Deputy of the Khural of Buryatia: “If you win in sports, you win in life”

25 student teams in Ulan-Ude opened the first volleyball league

The day before, in the gym of the Buryat Agrarian College named after Erbanov, the opening ceremony of the first student volleyball league among teams of secondary educational institutions and technical schools of Ulan-Ude took place. 15 boys’ teams and 10 girls’ teams gathered in one place to compete for the title of the best team.

The opening ceremony of the volleyball league was attended by the chairman of the People’s Khural of Buryatia Committee on interregional relations, national issues, youth policy, public and religious associations Vitaly Lygdenov, the Minister of Sports of the Republic Ivan Kozyrev, the director of the agricultural college Tsydenzhap Shagdarov and many others.

The student volleyball league among secondary specialized educational institutions of the city is a fairly new event. It was created recently with the support of the Sports Federation of the Republic and the leadership of the Buryat Agrarian College, with the goal of reaching previously uninvolved secondary school students. 25 teams have already signed up there, and such a lively response, according to People’s Khural deputy Vitaly Lygdenov, is certainly a good indicator.

“I would like to express my gratitude to all the leaders and directors of technical schools and colleges for the support they provide to our young volleyball athletes. Next year we will officially register the league and it will definitely be included in the Unified Calendar Plan of the Sports Federation of the Republic. I myself have played all my life and still play volleyball. By the way, it was in this gym of the Buryat Agrarian College that the games were also held. Sometimes we won, sometimes we didn’t. Volleyball is a team game, so if someone misfires, the whole team loses. Before the game, I wish you that this never happens on your team,” the deputy addressed the guys participating in the league. – The motto of our Federation is always this: if you win on the sports field, you win in life.

Despite their young age, the athletes participating in the league already have 6 to 9 years of volleyball experience behind them. Some started playing sports in the third grade, when they were just children.

“I’m 18 years old now, but I’ve been playing volleyball for about 9 years,” says Elena Vintulkina, center forward of the women’s team of the Republican Information Economic College. – My whole family is volleyball players – mom, dad, brother, sister – I follow in their footsteps. I really like playing volleyball. It attracts me with the indescribable emotions in the game, the support of each other and our friendly team.

Competitions among secondary educational institutions will last until the spring of 2024, and the teams will ultimately be divided into two strongest groups. In the meantime, the guys will have to give their 100%, strive for the maximum result in order to be able to get into the Volleyball League among higher educational institutions in the future and, if possible, create serious competition for them.
