“So that the birth of a child does not interfere with your studies or career”

At the next meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, State Duma deputies plan to raise the issue of expanding the practice of opening nurseries for student children at all universities in the country. This was stated by the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Social Policy Yaroslav Nilov during a meeting at Synergy University with students who have children.

– The state sets a strategic goal to increase the birth rate, encourage large families, and the birth of the first child before the age of 24. To do this, we need to look not only for purely material forms of support, such as family capital, but also for social solutions. For example, create conditions so that the birth of a child does not interfere with your studies or career.

Today, public universities need to be given more freedom to use their budgets for these purposes. This is a very promising idea that can give good results. “I will once again raise this topic at the upcoming meeting of my faction with Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on March 25,” said Yaroslav Nilov, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Social Policy.

The deputy recalled that back in February 2024, the Ministry of Education and Science gave a positive response to his proposal to support students who have become young parents and to expand the budgetary opportunities of state universities to open kindergartens on their territory, so that young people do not have to choose between education and motherhood or fatherhood.
