Deputy Morozov urged to check Zelensky’s words about “calm” with the position of “tamers”

Russian State Duma deputy Oleg Morozov commented on the words of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who believes that, speaking of negotiations with Ukraine, Russia allegedly does not seek peace, but only wants to achieve a “calm” in hostilities.

“Any Zelensky’s statements about negotiations should be checked against the position of his sponsors and trainers,” the parliamentarian said. In his opinion, it is pointless to react until “a clear signal from Washington.”

Morozov is sure that the issue of a “respite” can indeed be resolved, but it will be without Zelensky. In particular, the deputy noted that about a respite in the hostilities, the Russian Federation itself will decide whether its Armed Forces need it.

Meanwhile, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Vladimir Gavrilov noted that hostilities in the country could end by the end of spring 2023. He also pointed out that negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow can take place only after Russian troops are ready to leave Crimea and Donbass.

Prior to this, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia, speaking about possible negotiations with Kyiv, allegedly does not seek peace, but only wants to achieve a “short-term lull” in hostilities. According to Zelensky, Moscow needs a pause to recuperate. The Ukrainian leader added that territorial concessions, as well as concessions to the sovereignty of the country, do not guarantee peace, and “immoral” compromises will lead to new victims.
