Deputy Khamzaev called for the introduction of the New Zealand method of combating smoking in Russia

State Duma deputy Sultan Khamzaev, who manages the Sober Russia project, declared in an interview with Lente.ru that anti-tobacco legislation should be adopted in Russia.
In particular, Khamzaev proposed to ban the sale of nicotine-containing products to citizens who were born after a certain date.
A day earlier it became known that New Zealand passed a law that prohibits the sale of tobacco products to persons born after January 1, 2009 – for life.
Khamzaev called the decision of the New Zealand government “wise” and said that he fully supported such an initiative. The parliamentarian believes that anti-tobacco legislation should be adopted in Russia, although the effect of it will not be visible immediately.
He also drew attention to the fact that when such a law is adopted in the Russian Federation, tobacco should not be allowed to be replaced by any alternative.
According to him, “when the category of citizens who will be prohibited from selling nicotine-containing products reaches the age of majority, it will already be independent of tobacco.” And by that time, “there will be no reason for it to fall into their hands.”
Earlier, Sultan Khamzaev addressed the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov with a proposal to ban the online sale of electronic cigarettes.
