Deputy Minister of Education Tatyana Vasilyeva said her ministry is working on a basic military training course in schools and colleges. Sergei Mironov, leader of the A Just Russia – For Truth party, proposed introducing such a course into the compulsory secondary general education program.
“Currently, the development of an NVP training course has been organized within the time allotted by the instructions for teaching citizens basic knowledge in the field of defense in educational organizations,” Tatyana Vasilyeva said in a message.
Deputy Sergei Mironov told “Izvestia”that the course he proposed could help employ tens of thousands of people and prepare citizens “for a possible confrontation with the enemy.” His idea was supported by the Ministry of Defense. Deputy Minister of Defense Valery Gerasimov, in response to the deputy, said that the proposal “deserves attention.” He suggested that at least 140 hours be devoted to this course during the last two years of study.
After the start of the military operation, deputies and officials repeatedly proposed returning the course of military training to schools and colleges. In June with this offer spoke deputies of the legislative assembly of St. Petersburg. Basic military training classes already introduced in the schools of Dzerzhinsk.
