On June 24, the fourth swim took place through the Gorky reservoir on the surface of one of the largest meteorite craters in Europe – the Puchezh-Katun astrobleme. The crater is 167 million years old.
43 people from seven regions of Russia took part in the swim over a distance of 3,200 meters. The youngest swimmer is 16 years old, the oldest is 63 years old. To participate in the swim, it was necessary to present a medical certificate.
The previous three swims took place in good, clear weather. This time the weather let down the swimmers, but almost all of them safely reached the finish line. Only three participants left the race.
It so happened that in all swims through the crater, women were the first to reach the finish line. This swim was no exception. The best swimmer was Marina Batalova, who came from Nizhny Novgorod. The second was Pavel Borisov from Yaroslavl, the third – Alexey Ryzhov from Sokolsky.
Alexei Mikhailov, deputy head of Ivanov’s administration, took part in the swim. He swam across the crater in 1 hour 25 minutes and 27 seconds to finish eighteenth.
