Deputy editor-in-chief of MK Vadim Poegli turned 60: a real man

Our hero of the day is young at heart and does not think of resting on his laurels

Probably, our deputy editor-in-chief Vadim Poegli was destined to link his destiny with the press: after all, his parents worked in a printing house. But the young man initially chose a different path, entering the Moscow Automotive Institute, at the same time he worked as a turner at the Hammer and Sickle plant, then served in the army for two years in the air defense forces. But you can’t escape fate, and after the army the young man entered the journalism department of Moscow State University. Vadim came to Moskovsky Komsomolets in 1990, while still a student. After some time, he headed the politics department.

It is with those “dashing nineties” that the most heroic pages of our colleague’s biography are connected. For example, when thugs from the Black Hundred “Memory” burst into the editorial meeting, it was Vadim who stood up to meet them with clenched fists, demonstrating to the uninvited guests that no one here would hide from them under the tables.

And it was in the office of the editor of the politics department, Vadim Poegli, on a black day for MK, October 17, 1994, that war correspondent Dmitry Kholodov was blown up by a booby trap. Poegli responded to the death of his friend and colleague with an exposé article directed against the then Defense Minister Grachev, whom he directly accused of theft and corruption. Then there was a trial against Vadim, a verdict and release under an amnesty right in the courtroom.

In all these stories, Vadim showed himself not just as a real journalist, who firmly knows what his professional duty is and fearlessly fulfills it, but also as a real man who never shows his back to the enemy.

Vadim Poegli devoted most of his journalistic biography to serving politics, a key topic for MK. However, when some new idea arose in the bowels of the editorial office, it was Poegli who was tasked with bringing it to life – they were confident that he could handle it thanks to his experience, comprehensive knowledge, creativity, and ability to build relationships with people… It was Vadim who was the first chief editor of such completely different projects as the secular magazine “MK Boulevard” and “MK Mobile” – a specialized publication for motorists.

The name of journalist Poegli, whom our readers know and appreciate, loves and is immensely respected by his colleagues, is higher than any awards – and he has plenty of them! Without exaggeration, he can be called one of the symbols of our newspaper.

At the respectable age of 60, our hero of the day is young at heart and does not think of resting on his laurels. Even today, with the rank of deputy editor-in-chief, he is at the head of the political direction of the newspaper, being responsible for the most pressing topics in the newspaper.

And we, his friends and colleagues, are extremely happy about this fact. Because we know: Vadim Yuryevich will never let you down, he will clean up all our mistakes and flaws and cope with all professional challenges.
