Deputies from the LDPR submitted to the State Duma a bill “On Amendments to Article 67 of the Federal Law “On the Circulation of Medicines.” It proposes to establish requirements for instructions for the use of medicinal products. They must be printed in an easy to read font size of at least 12 points.
Currently, the font size is not established by law, but an 8-point font is recommended (that is, a lowercase letter with a height of only 1.4 mm). Of course, such fine print is practically unreadable by patients, especially the elderly.
One cannot deny a sense of humor to liberal democrats who write that they are ready to provide everyone with magnifying glasses with party symbols, but this approach does not seem to them to be a state-like approach. Increasing the font by at least a third will not increase the size of drug packaging, but will make life easier for their consumers.
