Deputies of the State Duma Committee on Education and the leader of the A Just Russia-For Truth faction, Sergei Mironov, called for the development of a unified federal standard for providing schoolchildren with hot meals. They sent a proposal to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, according to “News”. The press service of the government said they received an appeal.
According to the document, as a result of monitoring conducted in certain regions, an increase in the price of school meals was revealed. In this regard, the authors of the appeal propose to establish a single standard mandatory for subjects with a basic list of dishes that meet the “principles of a rational, balanced diet for different groups of schoolchildren.” Separately, it is proposed to introduce nutrition for children with chronic diseases, as well as taking into account intolerance to certain types of food products.
It is clarified that the basic menus can be supplemented depending on regional and national characteristics, subject to the requirements for the content of the main products in the diet. First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Education, Yana Lantratova, said that due to the lack of a single standard, “some schoolchildren literally remain hungry,” as they “are given low-quality and tasteless food, which they are forced to refuse.”
Plans were announced in July Udmurtia make changes to free school meals programs. In August the authorities Tatarstan announced their intention to gradually increase the cost of organizing and providing free hot meals to elementary school students.
