The security forces of the Taliban (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation), which controls Afghanistan, dispersed a rally against a ban on women’s education in universities with the help of water cannons. It is reported by the Associated Press.
Since the beginning of the week, protests have been held in various cities of Afghanistan. They began when the country’s leadership announced a ban on university education for women, thereby depriving them of the right to higher education.
In the city of Herat, protesters (estimated at 100-150 women) moved towards the office of the local authorities. They, according to the agency, chanted: “Education is our right!”. Security forces reportedly fired water cannons at the women. The protesters, when the guards completed their actions, resumed the procession.
Many Muslim countries have criticized the ban imposed by the Afghan authorities. In particular, Turkey said: such decisions have nothing to do with humanity or religion.
