The male population in Ukraine has decreased by approximately two million people in three years. This was reported by demographer Alexey Raksha at the military-scientific conference “Ogarkovsky Readings”, organized by the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies (CAST).
According to him, as of January 1, 2021, Ukraine was the “oldest” state in the post-Soviet space after the Baltic countries – the average age in the country was 42 years. About 34-36 million people lived in the country (excluding the population of Donbass). At this time, the number of men in Ukraine aged 18-50 was 8.5-9 million.
Intensive migration began in 2022. Today, in Poland alone there are at least 1 million Ukrainian citizens. The largest number of Ukrainians is in Germany – 1 million 300 thousand. And the bulk are women and children. The number of women of childbearing age in Ukraine has decreased by about a third.
Analysis of Ukrainian and foreign statistical data shows that as a result of natural population decline, mass migration and losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the population of Ukraine in the territory controlled by Kiev is currently about 27 million people, with 6.5-7 million men aged 18-50 years million. Up to 300 thousand of them are wounded and are not subject to conscription. The average age of those killed in Ukraine is 37-38 years.
Taking into account the number of wounded, as well as those with reservations from conscription, the mobilization resource of Ukraine is estimated at 3-4 million men aged 18-60 years.
According to the expert, taking into account the level of losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and trends in population decline, Ukraine will be able to fight for at least another five years.
