Labor market representatives and experts report that the demand for nannies has increased significantly in Russia. According to the data given in “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”, in August of this year, the demand for nannies increased by 33% compared to August 2022. In the third quarter of 2023, the need for nannies increased by 1.4 times compared to the same period last year.
Managing Director of Avito Rabota and Avito Services Artem Kumpel notes an increase in vacancies for nannies. Representatives of the portal Hh.ru also confirm this trend. In Moscow, from January to September of this year, 2,675 vacancies for nannies were published, which is 40% more than in the previous year (1,914). In the regions, 2,598 vacancies were published on Hh.ru over the same period, which is 15% more than a year earlier (2,253).
The head of the laboratory for research on demography, migration and labor market INSAP RANEPA Alla Makarentseva said that one of the main obstacles to the return of women with children under 1.5 years old to work is the lack of nurseries for children of this age. She also notes that if the bill to maintain child benefits is passed, women who already work part-time will be able to take advantage of new opportunities and switch to full-time work. Also, this measure may affect the part of women who receive help from grandmothers or other relatives in caring for children.
