DELO LGBT+ organization announced self-dissolution – Kommersant

The human rights team “Delo” (DELO LGBT+) announced its dissolution after the Supreme Court’s decision to recognize the “international LGBT movement” as extremist and to ban it. IN statement The organization says that the team’s lawyers will move to other countries and engage in international human rights activities.

The statement notes that all current cases will be transferred to lawyers remaining in Russia and brought to an end. “At the same time, the motto remains relevant for us: “No one will be left alone with the System.” We promise that no one will find themselves without help in court,” the message says.

DELO LGBT+ team lawyers defended the interests of people of non-traditional sexual orientation in Russian courts, as well as people persecuted for social activities aimed at supporting the LGBT+ community. The organization’s website says that they have 220 clients. The team’s previous website was blocked by Roskomnadzor in August 2023.

Today, November 30, the Supreme Court of Russia on the claim of the Ministry of Justice admitted “international LGBT social movement” extremist. There was no defendant in the case; only representatives of the Ministry of Justice were present in the hall. The meeting was held behind closed doors. The Ministry of Justice filed the lawsuit on November 17 in connection with “various signs and manifestations of an extremist orientation,” including “incitement of social and religious hatred.”
