The Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), which will be held in September in Vladivostok, will be attended by delegations from “unfriendly” countries. Alexey Chekunov, head of the Ministry for the Development of the Far East (Ministry for the Development of the Far East), said this, adding that the organizers are expecting delegates from South Korea and Japan.
“There will be guests… I am generally convinced and I know for sure that we have friends in ‘unfriendly’ countries, and there are quite a few of them,” Chekunov told RIA Novosti. In his opinion, for some “unfriendly” countries, cooperation with Russia is “destiny” due to geographic and economic proximity.
In June, the organizing committee of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) explained that the event was attended by representatives of all “unfriendly” countries. Anton Kobyakov, Executive Secretary of the SPIEF Organizing Committee, clarified that in 2019 the forum was attended by 600 delegates from the United States, and in 2022 – “10 times less” (quoted from “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”).
